Daylight Savings

Hi everyone,

I thought Kairon automatically allowed for daylight saving but I just did a chart for Chicago, May 1937 and it showed 6hw00 ... for CST shouldn't that have been GMT -7 ?

I can click Daylight Saving manually of course... but that then depends upon me knowing if daylight saving was in effect... which I don't always know. Some US states observe daylight saving and some don't...

any ideas?

Thanks,

Ruth

OK I found out what happened - it was because of the 'Illinois rule' - that prior to 1959 birth times in Illinois were recorded in standard time, even though daylight time was being observed.

I have "follow rule of Illinois birth registration law" checked in preferences and it turns out that the chart produced by Kairon was the accurate one!

Compared to other reports the person had done in the past which had always shown Scorpio to be the Asc. the Kairon report showed it to be Sagittarius... a little investigation into the birth time showed the Kairon chart to be the accurate one, and previous reports were wrong, because they did NOT allow for the 'Illinois rule'.

So what initially seemed to be a problem, actually turned out to be a lesson in the accuracy of Kairon (and the Swiss ephemeris)!

After this experience I am even more confident in Kairon (which I love anyway)

Thank you Killian!

with very best wishes ... Ruth :D
